KANOA OSTREM
Attorney
Kanoa started Ostrem Law in 2005. In helping clients understand the complex world of estate planning, Kanoa draws upon his years of practice at the highly respected firms of Gores & Blais, P.S. and Perkins Coie LLP. In addition to Kanoa's law experience, he has a graduate degree in tax law from the University of Washington. Kanoa obtained his BA in Economics from UCLA and his law degree from the University of Hawaii.
In his free time, Kanoa enjoys traveling and being outside with his wife of 27 years, the famous Renee Akiona Ostrem, and his 2 children: Charlie, a professional soccer player; and Anna, an actress and graduate student at NYU.
Fun fact: Kanoa was an All-American volleyball player in high school and played at UCLA.
MEAGAN ROURKE
Associate Attorney
Meagan graduated Magna Cum Laude from Central Washington University in 2017 with degrees in Law and Justice and Sociology. Meagan then attended Seattle University School of Law, where she graduated Cum Laude in 2020 and discovered her passion for helping individuals with estate planning.
Meagan joined Ostrem Law in 2020 as an Associate Attorney. Meagan loves simplifying the estate planning process for clients and helping them check what is sometimes a daunting task off their to-do list. In her free time, Meagan enjoys playing pickleball and cribbage, spending time with family, snuggling her cat named Bee, and cheering on her favorite sports teams.
Fun fact: Meagan was born in England and, yes, she does like crumpets!
NICOLE
McELHANEY
Associate Attorney
Nicole graduated from Seattle University, Magna Cum Laude, in 2024. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Northern Arizona University. When applying to law school, Nicole thought she would pursue environmental law, but after her first property law class, she knew she wanted to work directly with clients on issues related to trust and estate planning.
Nicole joined Ostrem law in 2022 as an intern and in 2024 as an associate attorney. In her free time, she loves to sightsee in the city by bicycle and to spend time with her husband and two daughters eating at their favorite neighborhood restaurants.
Fun fact: Nicole spent a college summer working as a wildland firefighter on an engine crew in the Arizona backcountry.
JENNIFER WOO-WASHINGTON
Paralegal
Jennifer earned her legal assistant certificate from Renton Technical College in 2007 and her associates of applied sciences in 2008. During her certificate program, she interned with a general practice attorney in Renton, Washington. After her internship, she worked for an Elder Law attorney where she prepared estate planning documents, assisted clients with probate and guardianship proceedings, and Medicaid/COPES planning and applications.
Jennifer joined Ostrem Law in 2014 as a paralegal. Jennifer enjoys helping clients navigate the probate process, ensuring they meet all statutory deadlines timely, and making tasks as effortless as possible while they are dealing with the grief of losing a loved one. Jennifer also helps with trust administration and deed preparation.
Jennifer enjoys her time away from the office with her two daughters, cooking and being outside to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the PNW, especially the Olympic Peninsula.
Fun fact: Jennifer loves to travel and usually brainstorms her family's next adventure 6+ months in advance!
STEPHANIE
HARPER
Administrative Assistant
Stephanie graduated from University of Washington with a BA in psychology. She taught Preschool/Kindergarten for 12 years while raising her two kids. She and her family have been close friends with the Ostrem family since their kids became best friends 20 years ago.
Stephanie joined Ostrem Law in 2022 as an Admistrative Assistant and she enjoys assisting new and established clients with their Estate Planning needs. In her free time, she loves to spend time with family, friends and her dogs. She also enjoys boating, kayaking, hiking, camping, traveling and running!
Fun facts: Stephanie married her high school sweetheart and has run multiple marathons.
